2020 Virtual Fall Business Meetings

The New York State Association of REALTORS® 2020 Fall Business Meetings will be held virtually Monday, September 14 through Wednesday, October 7, 2020.

 

How to register

Visit https://www.nysar.com/fbmreg/ to register. Your username is your 9-digit NRDS # and your password is your last name. Select “Upcoming Meetings’ from the “Events” tab. Add additional session or events that require preregistration or payment. Complete your registration and check your inbox for confirmation.

You can also fax or mail in the registration form HERE.

Meeting Planner

Meeting Planner is the central location for meeting dates and times, supporting documents, and Zoom meeting links. You will hear directly from your staff liaison and committee chair with information regarding how to join your meeting. To log onto meeting planner, click here.

Young Professionals Network (YPN) Committee

Join the NYSAR Young Professionals Network (YPN) on Monday, September 14 at 5 p.m. for a Happy Hour and presentation by Roseann Farrow, a licensed real estate broker and NYSAR education instructor. Roseann will teach you how to enhance your own “Power Language” in order to help you better present information and options to consumers, develop clear, concise answers to objections and enhance your overall communication.

Housing Opportunities Committee
Tuesday, September 15, (4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Join Dr. Tiffany Manuel for,“Why Housing Messages Backfire & 10 Things We Can Do to Make a Stronger Case for Housing.” Learn more about how public audiences feel housing is an area of concern, how/why some of our messaging is backfiring and help you think through what language will help elevate your work. She will also discuss how to counter the thorny challenges of community opposition to affordable housing. Join us for this important and engaging presentation on messaging that will help you create and implement more effective messaging techniques!

Local Board Education Forum

This is an opportunity to get your questions answered and have a discussion with the Department of State staff members on everything from qualifying courses and licensing to continuing education and license renewal.

Local board/association presidents are invited to join host Jennifer Stevenson, NYSAR’s 2020 president, for an opportunity to network amongst your peers.

Legislative Policy Forum
Wednesday, September 30, (10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)
Joe Goode, CEO of American Strategies will be a guest speaker at the Legislative Policy Forum. Joe conducts public opinion surveys and provides strategic advice for trade associations, non-profit organizations and corporations and has worked for and advised political organizations and campaigns for more than thirty years as a pollster, consultant and executive. NAR’s New York political representative Zack Rubin-McCarry will also give a political update at the state and national level.

Global, Resorts & Second Home Markets Committee
Thursday, October 1, (12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
NAR maintains formal relationships with organized real estate associations around the world, giving REALTORS® confidence in working with professionals that abide by a code of ethics. These bilateral agreements exist to help you establish business partnerships and referral opportunities. Attend a special panel discussion on “Current Market Conditions and How the Real Estate Business Globally has Adapted to the New Environment”. You’ll hear from panelists representing Italy, Portugal, Spain, Belize, Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, India and Japan. It’s open to all, so plan to attend to learn how the real estate business is changing around the world and how you can be part of it!

During the session, NYSAR Legal Counsel Anthony Gatto, Esq. will provide an informative update on current legal issues. This will NOT carry CE credit.

 

 

General Session
Monday, October 5, (2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.)
This is the cornerstone event of the business meetings. You won’t want to miss President Jennifer Stevenson’s State of the Association address, the announcement of the REALTOR® of the Year and Alan Yassky Award and our guest speaker, nationally renowned Sean Carpenter who will present Leave Your Mark – Realtors strive to deliver great service on every transaction but those that can create memorable experiences have a better chance of earning repeat and referral business. Earning “Top of Mind Awareness” with your customers, clients, and community is a critical component of a successful business. This session will show Realtors how it can be done through consistent personal branding, succeeding in the “Attention Economy”, developing a powerful reputation and tips for leaving a lasting impression.

Caucuses
Tuesday, October 6
All attendees are encouraged to participate in their board’s caucus to share details about the committee meetings attended in preparation for Wednesday’s Board of Directors meeting.  The caucuses are organized reflecting board/association size rather than region.

  • Small Board Caucus: fewer than 400 members – (9:15 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.)
  • Medium Board Caucus: between 400 – 999 members – (10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.)
  • Large Board Caucus: between 1,000 – 9,999 members – (11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
  • Jumbo Board Caucus: 10,000 or more members – (12:15 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.)

The purpose of the caucuses is to educate the members on action items that will be presented to the Board of Directors. The remaining time may be used to discuss other matters such as NYSAR committee meeting activities. The caucuses will be run by an appointee of the Executive Committee who will report back to the full Executive Committee.

Join the NYSAR YPN as we once again collect aluminum pull tabs to donate to the Ronald McDonald House of Albany.

  • Anything else with a pull tab!

One hundred percent of the dollars raised are put into the direct operations of the RMHC and add up to make a heartfelt impact on the critically ill children and families partaking in their services.
